A Year and a Half of Passion and Achievements
Today, the Guadalajara team announced the departure of their sporting director, Fernando Hierro, who will be heading to football in Saudi Arabia.
Hierro delivered an emotional message to Chivas fans and the club, highlighting his unique experience and the affection he takes with him.
A Message of Gratitude
“It has been an honor to join this family, to join this club. It has been an honor to be here for this year and a half. Obviously, what I would like to do is send a message to everyone. What do I take away from Chivas? Affection, a sense of belonging, having known a world that, no matter how much I imagined it was big, is much bigger as time goes by. Getting to know the Chivas world is an unparalleled experience, it has been something that fills me with pride, belonging to a club like this that only plays with Mexicans. It has really filled me a lot,” commented Hierro.
Recognition of the Fans
Hierro also highlighted the unconditional support of the Rebaño fans during his tenure. “I believe my presence has been maximal, this semester we have been the team with the most visits in stadiums both home and away because we are inspiring new generations. It is very important that this semester we were sold out at home and that is appreciated.
I could never have imagined the support that Chivas has, everything it moves, and that for me is something unparalleled. Despite all my experiences in life, this is one of the most beautiful, because Nicolás, my son, was born here, and at any moment we will return because my son will ask where he was born,” he assured.
Confidence in the Club’s Future
Regarding the future of Chivas, Hierro expressed confidence in the solid foundation he has left in both the first team and the youth divisions.
“There is a work base, an organizational base, there is a base of players with Tapatío and the youth teams, that speaks of the process, and it is very important. At the top of it all is the first team, which has a very solid base with three direct qualifications to the Playoffs and the boys are believing,” he concluded.
New Challenges in Saudi Arabia
Now, Fernando Hierro will join Al-Nassr, where he will meet other Real Madrid legends such as Cristiano Ronaldo, to take on a new challenge as a director.
