Tragedy in Football: Juan Izquierdo Passes Away at 27
The football world is in mourning following the tragic death of Juan Izquierdo, the central defender for Club Nacional de Montevideo, who passed away at 27 years old after suffering a cardiac arrest during a Copa Libertadores match.
Izquierdo collapsed on the field on August 22 during the game against São Paulo at the Morumbí Stadium and, despite medical efforts, passed away five days later on August 27 at Albert Einstein Hospital in Brazil.
