MLS sets historic attendance record in 2024 season
Major League Soccer (MLS) has announced a historic milestone for its 2024 regular season, reaching a record 11.45 million spectators in stadiums. This figure marks a 5% increase compared to 2023, the year Lionel Messi joined the league, and a remarkable 14% rise compared to 2022.

As the playoffs kick off, the MLS expects to surpass 12 million fans by the end of the postseason. The average attendance per match was 23,234, the highest in league history, with 21 of the 29 teams seeing an increase in their average crowd size.

The success wasn’t limited to the stands. Season ticket sales grew by 12%, and 213 matches sold out completely. Sponsorship revenue also saw a 13% increase, reflecting the growing influence of soccer in the United States.
The MLS’s digital presence also expanded, with a surge in followers on YouTube (21%), TikTok (26%), and Instagram (10%). Additionally, Inter Miami’s third kit, a retro-inspired jersey, became the best-selling jersey in league history through its online store.
