América crushes and moves forward with authority
América showcased its power with a resounding 4-0 victory over Chivas at Estadio Azteca, securing a spot in the Concacaf Champions Cup quarterfinals with a 4-1 aggregate score.
From the start, the Azulcremas took control. In just the 6th minute, Brian Rodríguez opened the scoring after a precise assist from Diego Valdés. Guadalajara had a key opportunity in the 41st minute, but Luis Romo missed an important shot. Before halftime, Valdés capitalized on a rebound from the goalkeeper to make it 2-0.

Chivas collapses in the second half
Things got worse for Chivas after the break. Alan Mozo was sent off after receiving his second yellow card for a foul on Rodríguez. Even with the additions of ‘Chicharito’ Hernández and Isaac Brizuela, the team couldn’t turn the tide.

With an extra player on the field, América took full advantage. In the 65th minute, a defensive mistake allowed Alex Zendejas to score the third goal. Then, in the 79th minute, Álvaro Fidalgo sealed the rout with a powerful shot from the center of the box.
Cruz Azul, the next challenge
With this win, América moves on to the quarterfinals, where they will face Cruz Azul in a highly anticipated clash. André Jardine’s squad will look to maintain their dominance and move closer to the title.
